Close Timeline Dashboard [v26.2]

The Close Timeline tab on the Dashboard provides a Gantt chart view of all checklist tasks for the selected period. It allows managers, preparers, and admins to monitor the period-end close progress at a glance, identify task status across all checklists, and take action directly from the dashboard.

The chart organises tasks in a hierarchical tree structure on the left, with each item numbered to show its position in the hierarchy:

  • Template — the top-level checklist template. Status is derived from all child items.

  • Folder — folders grouping related tasks, numbered within the template (for example, 1, 2).

  • Task — individual checklist tasks, numbered within the folder (for example, 1.1, 1.2).

To view the Close Timeline:

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard module.

  2. Click the Close Timeline tab.

The Close Timeline displays all checklist tasks for the currently selected period.

If no checklists have been configured with scheduled tasks for the selected period, the tab displays a No Timeline Data message with a Manage Checklist Templates button.

Understanding the Chart

Each row displays a horizontal bar positioned according to the task's scheduled start and due dates. The bar is labelled with the task duration in business days (for example, "6d", "5d", "1d").

The bar colour indicates the current workflow status:

Colour

Status

Grey

Not Started

Solid blue

In Progress — template or folder level

Transparent blue

In Progress — task level

Orange / Yellow

In Review — template or folder level

Transparent orange / yellow

In Review — task level

Solid green

Completed — template or folder level

Green

Completed — task level

Parent rows (templates and folders) automatically derive their status from their child items. A template or folder shows as In Progress if at least one child item has started, In Review when all child items are at or beyond the review stage, and Completed only when all child items are complete.

The timeline operates on business days only — weekends are excluded from the date grid. The column headers show each business day, skipping weekends. A task's start date is calculated by counting the task duration backward in business days from its due date. A vertical dashed line marks Today.

Interact with the Close Timeline

The Close Timeline lets you view task details and switch between periods directly from the chart.

To view the details of a task:

  1. Hover over the task bar in the Close Timeline.

A tooltip displays the task name, start date, due date, duration, workflow status, and assignee.

To view the Close Timeline for a different period:

  1. Click the period selector in the header bar.

  2. Select the required period.

The Close Timeline refreshes to show tasks for the selected period.

Note: To configure checklist templates and add scheduled tasks, see Managing Checklist Template.
